Every day brings new headlines about “cybersecurity” – from stolen credit cards to rumors of nation-states circumventing safety controls at major utilities. Ever wonder what these cyber-threats actually looked like, who was behind them (and why), and what you should be doing to protect yourself? Come join us for a presentation and open Q&A session led by Brown alum and head of the Threat Operations Center at the industry-leading cybersecurity company Proofpoint, Kevin Epstein, as he talks about today’s reality on the internet and how you can stay safe.
Kevin Epstein, a Brown undergrad (ScB, High Energy Physics) and Stanford MBA, is a Silicon Valley executive and author who teaches at Stanford and likes scaring his extended family into staying off the internet. His favorite recent memory on the topic of Cybersecurity is lecturing to George Shultz and staff during Fleet Week on envisioning the aftermath of open cyberwar. “Based on what I saw at Livermore Labs, cyberwar makes an EMP look mild.” Also, there will be pizza.
